Mark Levin
Mark B. Levin is a photographer who captures the quiet beauty of the American landscape. Thanks to the unique topography of Southern California, Levin taught himself to shoot shadow and light among the waves of Malibu, the mountains of the Eastern Sierra’s, and the dunes of the Mojave Desert. An avid outdoorsman, skier, and surfer, Levin is at his best when the elements are at their worst – a thunderstorm, a whiteout, a freezing winter night. It is in those moments that Levin’s photos reflect the vastness of the landscape before him, yet reveal the very texture, detail, and silence that comprises a truly American image. Levin applies this unique perspective to his remarkable series of abandoned vehicles and buildings – an homage to their distant past and prior utility. Levin’s works are in private collections and public spaces throughout the United States.
